ABOUT ABOUT

¡Saludos!

On behalf of the Latino Medical Student Association - Southwest (LMSA-SW), LMSA National, and Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) we would like to cordially invite you to the 9th Annual LMSA National Conference. The conference will be hosted at Baylor College of Medicine on April 25-27, 2014 and The University of Texas at Houston Medical School (UTHSCH), 6431 Fannin St in Houston, TX. Baylor and UT are nestled within the Texas Medical Center, a world class center for research, education, and patient care where over 30 hospitals and educational institutions call home.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Creciendo Juntos: Improving Health Care for and by Latinos.” Creciendo Juntos, Spanish for “Growing Together,” is indicative of the dual growth of Latinos as a patient population and the development of Latino health professionals and leaders.

Main Goals:

  • To discuss the issues facing the Latino and underserved patient populations in the changing landscape of health care in the U.S.A.
  • To develop new ideas that will help Latino health care providers to work toward solutions to the above issues, as well as to improve the quality of health care for all patients regardless of background, socioeconomic status, and ethnicity.
  • To promote the education and development of current and future health care professionals.
